Step 1: Dreaming: When you find that you're ready to landscape your property, review the prospective area in your mind and then out on the actual site. If your property comes under a Home Owner's Association or other covenant requiring certain sizes or types of plants or landscaping guidelines, it is important to incorporate your ideas within that framework. Once your initial homework is done, you can begin to weigh your options and explore potential designs.
Step 2: Calling Us: With your ideas in mind, give us a call and we'll put you in touch with one of our experienced designers. They can answer any initial questions you might have and guide you through the rest of the process. Typically they will arrange to meet with you (at the site) to listen to your ideas and to tailor a design to match your budget, schedule and goals for the area. It's a good idea to consider items such as:
- Wildlife - do you want to attract wildlife or will it be a detriment?
- Children - will the landscape be designed to accommodate children and be safe for them to play in?
- Neighbors - is privacy your concern or do you want a seamless connection to nearby residents?
- Views - is there a view you would like to block or accentuate?
- Present Landscape - would you like to save or move certain plants or are they expendable?
- Plants - what purposes are they to serve and are there any specific types you'd like to incorporate into your plan?
To develop a design proposal, our design representative will need to take some measurements of your home and property, determine slopes, exposures, drainage patterns, locate permanent features and make many observations. They will give you information about realistic start dates, installation phases and cost estimates.
Step 3: Creating Your Design: The information our designers gather is synthesized into a working design. This is when your dreams are shaped into potential realities. We do our best to create designs that will effectively meet your goals.
Step 4: Reviewing Your Design: Once the designs have been created, you and our design representative will have the opportunity to look it over to make minor changes to the layout. Installation scheduling and payment arrangements are also completed at this time.
Step 5: Dreams Become Reality: Just like baking a cake or building a house, landscaping is completed in steps or phases.
- First utility lines are marked and the stage is set for the installation phase by removing undesirable plants or landscape features.
-
Next, the true "landscaping" portion of the project is completed, including: hardscape installation, rough grading, drainage installation, and soil modifications.
- Now the slate is clean for plants, walls, accent boulders, irrigation, water features and lighting systems to be brought into the picture - features that other smaller pieces of the design are built around. As the design puzzle is pieced together, fine-tuning is to be expected and your input in welcomed.
- The final phase of the design installation process involves planting small trees, shrubs, perennials, groundcovers and turf areas. Planting beds are mulched, irrigation and lighting systems are completed and tested - everything is watered, raked and manicured to perfection.
Our Commitment To You: Just because your landscape project has been completely installed doesn't mean we leave you behind! We want you to have a flourishing, functional landscape that you are proud of. Give us a call or send an e-mail our way and we'll be there to assist you with any questions or concerns about our work.
